As triathlons explode in popularity and the recent Ironman USA in Lake Placid, N.Y., sold out in under an hour, the new Westchester Toughman Half Ironman in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., will satisfy the niche for the ultimate challenge.  The event, scheduled Sept. 21, 2008, is the first half-Ironman in Westchester County and the only half-Ironman open to registration within a four-hour radius.

USA Track & Field will heighten anti-doping education initiatives at its three youth national championships in 2008 and will begin in-competition drug testing at the 2009 championship events. The programs are a partnership with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and are tied to USATF's Zero Tolerance anti-doping initiative and Win With Integrity youth outreach program.

The nation’s leading voice for the national parks, the nonprofit National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), announced it is launching a new website, Do Your Part for Climate Friendly Parks, which empowers national park visitors to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and helps national parks nationwide become leaders in combating global warming.

Only a few months after Marion Jones admitted that she lied to prosecutors about steroid use and her involvement in a check fraud scandal, she pleaded before the federal court to be spared from prison.
