The MyoMed Ragnar Relay Series, a series of overnight relay races, has announced three new races to take place in 2008. They will be held in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 26 to 27, Austin, Texas on Oct. 24 to 25, and Daytona Beach, Fla. Nov. 14 to 15.

The three additions bring the total number of races in the MyoMed Ragnar Relay Series to seven. Each relay is a 200-mile race in which teams of 12 run through scenery specifically selected for its beauty.

“When choosing new Ragnar Relay locations, we carefully consider the strength of the running community and the beauty of the potential course,” said Tanner Bell, co-founder of the MyoMed Ragnar Relay Series.

During the relay, each team member runs three legs ranging from three to eight miles and varying in difficulty. Teams have been known to decorate their vans, paint their faces and dress up in costume.

The Washington, D.C. relay will start in Cumberland, Md. The course will follow the C & O Canal, ending in Washington D.C. after passing by the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.

The Austin relay will start in San Antonio and finish in Austin. It will pass through Texas’ Hill Country.

The Florida relay will start in Tampa and finish in Daytona Beach. It will offer runners an opportunity to run from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean.  For more information on any of the relays, visit www.ragnarrelay.com.

In addition, MyoMed Ragnar Relay Series is offering a free motivational speaking tour to all corporations and non-profit organizations. The 52 Marathon Man Speaking Tour features Dane Rauchenberg, whose achievements include running an incredible 52 marathons in 52 consecutive weeks. This tour is aimed at promoting active lifestyles through corporate fitness programs.

The tour will be in the Washington, D.C. area the weeks of March 17 and May 26; Austin and San Antonio, Texas the weeks of April 28 and June 16; and Tampa/Daytona Beach, Fla. the weeks of May 12 and July 14. Organizations may contact Jeff Reber at 801-833-7270 or jeff@ragnarrelay.com to schedule a speaking engagement.
