Robert Kesten wants everyone to watch less television and appreciate the importance of physical activity and interpersonal engagement. To prove it, he is going to bike from one end of the county to the other.

Kesten is the executive director of the Center for Screen-Time Awareness, a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. whose mission is to provide information “so people can live healthier lives in functional families [and] in vibrant communities by taking control of the electronic media in their lives,” as stated on the group’s website.

The Big Ride, as the bicycle trip is called, will start April 1, 2009 and is expected to take one month. It will be a group ride with stops in cities and towns along the route from the west coast to the capital.
