Officials for the 3rd Annual Nation’s Triathlon to Benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society announced Wednesday that the 2008 race is sold out.
“To date, more than 3,500 athletes have signed up for the Nation’s Triathlon, which has grown exponentially since our inaugural year,” said Charles Brodsky, founder of the event. The race, which takes place in Washington, D.C., is scheduled for Sept. 14.
A number of race slots are still available through the charity partners Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Urban Rangers. Competitors may purchase entry into the race via a charity lot that provides funding for either of those charities.
The triathlon is an Olympic-distance triathlon, which signifies a 1.5K swim (in the Potomac River), a 40K bike course (through downtown D.C.) and a 10K run (along D.C.’s monument corridor).
The Nation’s Triathlon and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society announced their new partnership earlier this year. The race now promotes the Team In Training endurance sport training program, which to date has raised $850 million toward finding a cure for blood cancers.
The local charity partner, Urban Rangers, was founded in 1995 to provide fitness and educational opportunities for young people from the Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights neighborhoods of Washington, D.C.
