Keeping Pace with the MCM 2008

The eagerly anticipated registration date for the 33rd Marine Corps Marathon has been announced! Log on to www.marinemarathon.com beginning at noon eastern time on April 30 to secure a spot on the Arlington, Va., start line on October 26.  

Runners in the national capital region can avoid the anticipated online frenzy and register early at the MCM Registration Rally at Pentagon Row on April 29 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.  1,000 guaranteed entries will be available to would-be marathoners.  The fourth annual Registration Rally will feature food sampling, health and fitness products, giveaways from Pentagon Row merchants, live music and more. Be sure to be a part of the action and mark your calendar today. 

Semper Fred Fun Run Joins Historic Half Race Day Line Up

Join Miles and Molly, the MCM Mascots, as well as Marines and the Fredericksburg community for the Semper Fred Fun Run, a two mile run/walk for families and fitness enthusiasts of all ages, beginning at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 18. Semper Fred starts and finishes near the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center on Carl D. Silver Parkway. Registration for Semper Fred is now open. Simply log on to www.marinecorpshistorichalf.com and click on Register.  

The Butler Relay Opens MCM Event Series

The first race of the new MCM Event Series, the Butler Relay, to be held on March 29, will feature two-person teams completing a 10K course in two waves.  The course includes off-road trails and main roadways with the start and finish on the newly renovated Butler Stadium. 

The Butler Relay will be limited to a race field of 1,000 runners. Runners may sign up with a partner, or as an individual, and must complete the 10K distance in either the male, female or mixed categories.  

Online registration for the Butler Relay is now open at www.marinemarathon.com. Pre-registration is required. The Butler Relay is open to all participants ages 10 and up.

Free Virtual Trainer Provided By New Balance

Runners who are registered for the Marine Corps Historic Half can sign up for the free Virtual Trainer provided by New Balance.  Coach Jeff Galloway provides runners with Half Marathon training plans that are a balance of aerobic, anaerobic and cross-training workouts. These training programs are built to get people of all levels across the finish line, from the first-timer to the seasoned veteran!
